Weekend Shenanigans...

Hey y'all,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My weekend was a lot of relaxing and getting ready for this crazy week at work since the students are back and classes start Tuesday at UNC so I have been mentally preparing myself for their return after a summer of busy but quiet. So let's get started...

Friday.

Friday at work was pretty busy with some first years moving in and I was blessed to have one of my friends from college drop by. DanBob and I worked together and hasn't been to
UNC in over two years so it was great to see him and catch up. However, upon leaving work I kind of face-planted in the Pit. It was not pretty and I have the bruise to prove it, also it was in front of quiet a few people. However, the night ended well with having roomie time chatting over a glass of wine and pretty much just venting.

Saturday

After sleeping in, it was time to watch some Gilmore Girls season 7 and clean up my room. I also ventured out to Target to meet up with a sorority sister so she could borrow my tool kit and I was reminded how much I hate Target on move-in weekend. After browsing through Homegoods I grabbed some Chick-fil-A and then went home to finish Macrieve. 3:30 meant time to go teach Sunday School and with promotion weekend I had a lot of new faces in my Pre-K class. Saturday ended with movie night with my co-worker eCs watching Crazy Stupid Love and Easy A (it was an Emma Stone marathon), painting nails and eating pizza.

Morning was not babysitting but instead church since I had the hangout Saturday night, looking for a dress for the wedding I am attending in September, watching Gilmore Girls again and then fro-yo with my sorority family.

The rest of the night equaled cleaning, planning for the next week, making dinner and then wine night with Ever After on.

All in all I had a wonderful wine/movie filled relaxing weekend. How was yours? Are you ready for the Lilly Pulitzer Endless Summer Sale today? I'm hoping for a Murfee scarf and a Cassie dress!

Weekend Shenanigans..

Hey y'all,

As I write this I am trying to get everything together for Monday morning after having the past week off. So sorry for the continued disappearance. This past week was crazy with house sitting, moving, a hair cut, meeting the new kitten, celebrating birthdays, unpacking, cleaning and more! So I hope you forgive me. Now onto linking up with Sami since this weekend was crazy busy!

FRIDAY. Friday morning after checking on the house/pet bunny I was watching I swung by my old apartment to do the final cleaning (my keys were due on Saturday) and I finished everything and said goodbye to my old place. It was so strange to think that I no longer lived there. It was my very first, one hundred percent me apartment and for nine months I learned a lot about myself as I transitioned to my first real job, including the fact that as one of four kids I need a roommate to balance me out.

After all the cleaning it was time for tailgating for the Blake Shelton concert. My roommate's co-workers could not attend so we were able to get their lawn tickets and since I have never been to a country concert and I have loved Blake since Austin I was thrilled to go! After a run to Bojangles we spent a lovely time chatting and waiting for the doors to open. The concert was AMAZING! Jana Kramer and Easton Corbin were the opening acts but I was there for Blake and he did not disappoint. You can check out the set list here.

SATURDAY. After checking on the bunny again, it was time to catch up with tPr and have lunch/our usual stop at Barnes and Nobles. After that I headed over to Bed, Bath and Beyond to pick up the kate spade new york bedding in Little Star for my room and almost left the store not finding it. A lot of the past season kate spade bedding is on clearance right now at BB&B and so when I was looking in that section it was only past collections, luckily I took a second pass and found the Little Star bedding in a Full/Queen right next to some other customers. SCORE! It is perfect and you will see it in my new room in next week's post. Then it was time for teaching Sunday School (it is my last week with some of my preschoolers who will move on to the kindergarten class next week) and going to church. A quick run to Aldi and my roommate cooking greek chicken for our second roomie dinner finished off the night.

SUNDAY. More pet sitting, then babysitting, unpacking/organizing more of my room, cooking steak for roomie dinner #3 and then babysitting again rounded out the night/weekend.

Weekend Shenanigans: J.Crew & Carolina Baseball

Hey y'all,

So today I thought I would do a little weekend update and link up with Sami to discuss my pretty busy weekend. So Saturday began with waking up at 7:30am, breakfast, the news, etc. then off to drive over to nCn's house to begin the adventure to Lynchburg with CW & eCs as well! So off we went and unfortunately the drive included a lot of downed trees since the Carolinas/Virginia had an awful storm Thursday night. We arrived at the first J.Crew Clearance Center around 10:30 (25 Millrace Dr.) and found out they were having an additional sale. This location had a lot of swimwear, a men's section and a bit of everything else but beware of the wait for a fitting room since they only have three available. I tried on a few things and ended up with the dress below for under $40.

After shopping adventure #1 we checked out a place to eat and the lovely people at the Millrace location recommended we try Depot Grille. It's a restaurant right off of the train tracks (live ones where you can see the trains go by) built in a railroad car.

They also have crayons out with butcher paper on the table so we all got crafty while waiting for our food. By the way, the chicken tender salad has GIANT chicken tenders on top of a bed of lettuce (go for the half-salad) or any of the other items.

After lunch and exploring a small Antique Mall, eCs is an amazing antique finder we were onto store #2 (101-A Northwynd Circle). This location has a better atmosphere in my opinion of a store, it also includes Madewell and more special occasion dress including some gorgeous wedding dresses I saw for $250!

I tried on the scalloped dress everyone was raving about this spring but yellow is not my color.

I picked up the Mandy dress in mint seersucker for $60! So I grabbed two dresses for under $100 so I say it was a successful day. Then we drove back to Chapel Hill and I ran to the grocery store, worked out, watched Gilmore Girls on DVD and called it a night.

Sunday began with heading to church and seeing some big changes to the space that I am not too fond of but it is what it is. Then I headed to check out Homegoods/Michael's since I have decided that I am not loving my bed set and nothing was amazing but I did grab a Despicable Me coloring book for $1! I grabbed one for the college bestie, jCm for when she comes back to UNC for homecoming.

After the window shopping I got a text to watch the Carolina/State baseball game with some of my friends from church so I ran home, ate a quick lunch and changed into some Carolina blue. It was a tough game to watch but it was great to have fellow Carolina fans to commiserate with. Here's to hoping that we can beat UCLA and stay in the College World Series!

Weekend Shenanigans....

Sorry for the bit of a bloggy hiatus over the past few days but my weekend was pretty non-stop. I would love a few extra days to lounge around but in the professional world, summer is a season not a vacation. 

Onto the re-cap. So, Friday evening began with leaving work and heading to downtown Raleigh for yummy Italian food at Cafe Luna with EC, LW, and CW from work.

After dinner, we headed over to watch a performance of Giselle by the Carolina Ballet. It was a great show and none of us had seen a performance of Giselle so when we spotted the Groupon for $20 tickets we grabbed them.

Saturday began with a trip to the gym since I am still working on running my first 5k NEXT MONTH! I am still not where I should be but I started training a bit late and in the middle of the busiest season of work but am running about a mile and I still have four more weeks to go! After a trip to the gym it was time to get some reading done as I finished the book, Burning Blue.

After reading and some laundry it was time to head to church where I co-lead a class of 4&5 year olds while their parent's attend "big church." Typically I would go to the service following my class but my Mom and baby sis, kDi were in town to see Sister Act: The Musical  so I met up with them for dinner before the show at a German bakery/restaurant called the Guglhpf Cafe.It was great to eat German food together since it is so hard to find a good German restaurant.

After a delicious dinner, it was an hour long chat with one of my best friends, some TV then off to a 21st birthday party for one of my sorority sisters.

Sunday morning began early with some babysitting at 6:30am-2:30pm. After that long morning with little sleep watching a four year old and an 18 month old (talking 5 hours of sleep) it was time for lunch and a nap. After that, it was finishing laundry, making some dinner and back on the road in the rain. I drove into Raleigh to visit with RM and her roomies to see Identity Thief. It was hysterical and I am glad I made the journey for the $2 ticket and fun times with friends.

Sunday night ended with watching some of the ACM's present Tim McGraw's Superstar Summer Night. I am a huge fan of Tim so it was great to relax for a bit and listen to some great music.

And other news from the weekend, Caitlin and her sweet husband are expecting! There is so much joy and love going on with my friends it is such a fun time to log onto Facebook to see engagements, weddings, and little ones! God has blessed everyone so much and it is a constant reminder of the plan He has laid out for us.
