My Obsession Monday:Father's Day Gift

Hey y'all,

I am incredibly excited to have over 50 followers now! I never thought I would have so many after re-starting my blog in May. Thank you so much for reading along on my random adventures. Currently this post-grad is still working retail, living with her parents and enjoying a day off. YAY!

So without further ado, I am currently obsessed with my gift to Dr. Dad. For Father's Day I had been asking my mother what my Daddy wanted and she said that there really wasn't anything he was asking for so I had to be creative. I was running around on Friday afternoon before work and at Marshall's I found three pairs of flats for me but no gift for Daddy. Therefore, it was into Michael's next door.

I decided to give my Daddy a "Dad's Favorite's Things" basket. The basket was on sale at Michael's so I started to think of things my Dad loves and found some wooden letters to spell out the word DAD as well.
Wooden Letters+Paint=perfection.
The Final Product.
Whoppers:Dad's Favorite Chocolate Candy
Spice Drops: Dad's Favorite Candy
Goldfish: Dad's Favorite Snack
Dunkin Doughnuts Coffee: Dad's Favorite Coffee
Caramel Cashew Trail Mix(Target): Best Snack EVER
DAD Letters
*Not Shown: Card
*Ben & Jerry's Greek FroYo in Raspberry Chocolate Chunk. My Dad loves Raspberries and Ben &Jerry's so it was perfect and was in the freezer with a bow on it.
I thought this was the perfect gift for my Dad and he could grab the basket and take it to work as pick-me ups throughout the day.

What are you obsessed with this week?

Peace and Blessings,

My Obsession Monday

The Arnold Palmer

Hey y'all,
It's time again for a My Obsession Monday. I don't know about you but I love to drink sweet tea and to mix it up I often order Arnold Palmers in the summer. After watching Paula Deen on the food network the other night make Arnold Palmer cupcakes I was dying over, I thought I would help y'all with my obsession over the famous drink.  For y'all that don't know what an Arnold Palmer is it is half sweet tea and half lemonade named after the famous golfer. It is the perfect twist for the summer months and on days off I might even throw in some Firefly Skinny Sweet Tea Vodka(yes, I am of age). So this weekend I took a recipe straight from Paula Deen herself to make an Arnold Palmer to enjoy. This recipe is really quick and simple for those of y'all not use to making tea I promise you can't mess this up.

Here's the recipe.

3 family sized tea bags (I used Luzianne)
1 (12 ounce) can of frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1 cup of sugar (I only used 3/4 of a cup)
1/2 teaspoon of almond extract (I left this out since I hate almonds)
Sliced lemons, for garnish
I added lemon zest

In a medium saucepan, bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Add the tea bags, remove the pan from the heat, and let the tea steep for 20 minutes. Discard the tea bags. In a pitcher or serving bowl, combine the lemon zest, tea, lemonade concentrate, sugar, almond extract, and enough water to make 1 gallon total (I used 3 cans of water measuring from the can of frozen lemonade). Stir, serve over ice and garnish with the sliced lemon. That's it.

The man himself.

If you don't want go through the trouble of making it yourself I know the Arizona on-the-go sticks to make an Arnold Palmer in your water bottle are great as well as their pre-made mix.
What's your weekly obsession?

Peace and Blessings,

My Obsession Monday (& Sunday Sayings)

Hey y'all,

Sorry I have been MIA this weekend. I actually began back work at my retail job yesterday so I was pretty busy and came home to only want to put my feet up (yay for walking for 5+ hours!) and sleep. So quick update on  my life: my room's air conditioning unit broke and it has been in the 90s so I have been sleeping downstairs since my room is now like a sauna. But enough about my struggles. This week I am obsessed with....
I'm obsessed with my new Essie nail polish. This week I ran to Ulta to grab a couple of things for my mom and pick up a few colors. My collection so far is mainly OPI (I have 4 minis,Pretty Edgy, and Splash of Grenadine.) So here are the colors I picked up.
Status Symbol.
I'm wearing this right now and it is a gorgeous almost neon pink.
Turquoise & Caicos
I have been eyeing this one for a while so I caved in.
Lapiz of Luxury
What's your obsession?

Now since I missed Sunday Sayings I thought I would throw them in as well. Here is some inspiration to jump start your week!

The Season by Sarah MacLean
The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter
The Ivy Chronicles by Karen Quinn
What have you been reading?

I hope y'all are having a beautiful Memorial Day and long weekend!

Good Reads: My Obsession Monday

Hey y'all,

So yesterday when I was avoiding continuing unpacking I logged on to goodreads. I originally created an account last August but had not done much in the way of personalizing and recommending books. However, yesterday I went through and by recommending books by my favorite authors I began to create a pretty extensive bookshelf that reaffirms that my main loves in literature are 19th century British novels, young adult and teen series, chick-lit and finally paranormal romances. The great thing about Good Reads is not only does it track what you have read and gives you suggestions it also allows you to create a to-read shelf. Summer is the perfect time to catch up on some fun reading and now that I am no longer reading literature for my English major I will need some more suggestions on great books for year-round reading. My new to-read list almost has 100 books already and I could always use some more suggestions!

Here are some books that are currently on my to-read list:
