Apartment Tour: Bathroom

Hey y'all,

So I have officially been in my place for two months now and it is finally coming all together. I am so glad I made some small changes from my last apartment, notably the shower curtain which now matches my new bedspread. It give a more cohesive look, plus I am not really a fan of brown as a color and now have retired that part, however, I am still working on changing out the bathmats (which you can barely see in the photos but are these ones) since they match the shower curtain I had in college. (Please excuse iPhone photos, with the computer still out of commission, posting via phone means no camera to plug in for nicer shots.)

Warning the majority of my decor comes from Target finds as well as Homegoods/ Marshalls/T.J. Maxx finds since I am still trying to live a life on a budget (student loans are not cheap). I hope this inspires you that you can have an adorable bathroom on a small budget.

Overview:
Details:
These are postcards of The Little Prince or Le Petite Prince from France that my bestie, aMl, got me while she was studying abroad.

The small two tier catchall was a clearance find at Target and the Polish Pottery dish I found at Marshalls. It is the perfect way to have all of my essentials without a cluttered mess.
I found both of these quote canvases at Homegoods and they are just so inspiring as I get ready each morning. Each day is a new start and we need to live it in pursuit of our dreams. *Yes I plan on eventually only having navy, pink and light blue towels out but since I don't have guests for a while the brown towels appear before laundry day.

The hook on the back of my door holds my Victoria Secret & UNC bathrobes along with extra towels.

I hope that y'all enjoyed a little look into my home/life. What are your go to decor stores?

Weekend Shenanigans.

Hi y'all,

I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was filled lots of relaxing and cuddling with cats. I promise I am not a crazy cat lady but when your parents let you watch their 5 month old kitten and year and a half year old cat for a week you kind of go crazy since the last time I saw them was for an afternoon back in August.

Anyhoo, let's get this show on the road.

Friday. Friday was my lazy day, I came home, I cuddled with kittens, took a two hour nap and then hung out with the roomie for the rest of the night. I think that is a successful night in.

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the farmers market. I didn't pick anything up but the roomie did grab some lavender soap and some kale. After that we decided to hit up Marshall's/TJ Maxx. While we didn't find anything at TJ, we hit up Marshalls and I found some adorable Minetonka slippers for $24.99. I might be bringing them to my office as my desk shoes.

After Marshall's we hit Old Navy and I found a ton of cute tops for work that I am waiting for them to go on sale and then they will be in my closet.

Then it was off to workout where we rescued a giant caterpillar who was on the bricks and moved to leaves.

After that I headed to church to teach Sunday school. The rest of the night I babysat. *I told you it was an uneventful weekend.

Sunday. The cats as usual woke me up at 6:30 but I managed to stay in bed until 8, but this meme is how I feel every morning with these cats.
Then rHm made some yummy pancakes for breakfast before we headed to church.
The rest of the afternoon was cuddling with the cats, running to the grocery store and making dinner. After that I headed to the PBX officer meeting and called it a night.

I hope y'all had some exciting things this weekend but if not here is little Lily wishing you a happy Monday on this dreary day.

Fall TV Friday

Hey y'all,

This week has been really grate and the start of a lot of fall television, while I am not super excited about a lot of the new shows I was so excited to watch the premiers of some of my favorite shows. So since I am nosy and like to see what people watch on TV I thought I would share (beware I am a bit of a TV junkie). I am going to group things by night so it makes it a bit easier if you are interested in the show.

Sunday
*Nothing. I used to watch Once Upon a Time but gave it up. I mainly reserve Sundays for the Spring when Downton Abbey returns.
via
Monday
8pm. How I Met Your Mother. I did watch this show for a very long time and stopped watching religiously right around season 7 but with the (final) final season starting I have watched the first episode and I am right back with the gang. I am slowly catching up on the episodes I missed on Netflix.
via
8pm. Hart of Dixie. My love of all things Southern made me begin to watch this show and how can you resist a small town with a former football player major, girls named Magnolia & Lemon, an aligator is considered a pet, and Rachel Bilson plays a doctor from NYC.
via
10pm. Castle. If you have yet to start this show, please pick it up. I love the wit and fun of this crime drama that focuses around a NYC detective and a best-selling author as he does "research" for his new book series. While I am unsure where this new season is headed I love the team of Becket and Castle so I will continue to watch.
via
*My Mom recommends The Blacklist and I want to catch Hostages.

Tuesday
*a night of new shows. I have yet to catch any of these shows, but these look interesting and I will keep you updated if they stick around my weekly lineup.

8pm. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

8pm. The Originals (spin-off of the Vampire Diaries, the premiere last night was different than the one I watched on CWTV.com last month)
via
9:30pm Trophy Wife

Wednesday
8:30pm Back in the Game (I want to watch this one but have yet to see it)

9pm. Modern Family. Good, family fun and lots of laughter. I love to come home from Chapter and get a great night of laughter in.
via
9pm. Criminal Minds. I am more of a re-runs person with Criminal Minds ever since my Mom spoiled one of the seasons.

Thursday (my big night of TV)
8pm. The Big Bang Theory. This show fulfills my need for geeky televisions since we all have an inner nerd. It is just so funny and if you have never watched it, my CW station has it come on every weeknight at 7pm & 7:30pm so you can catch up quickly. I must say the newer seasons are more crude and not my favorite compared to the first few seasons.

8pm. The Vampire Diaries. I was not an original fan but the summer before my Senior year of college, I was bored and watched all the episodes on Netflix and then became obsessed. I must say though I lost touch this past spring and that is ok since a whole bunch of crazy stuff is going on right now.
via
9pm. Reign. My love for history and things makes me so excited for this show and the costuming. Plus who doesn't like drama between royalty.
via
10pm. Scandal. HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE SHOW. SERIOUSLY. If you are not watching Scandal, get to a computer, turn on Netflix and watch both seasons. It is amazing and I love it. It is filled with lots of twists and turns and you never really know anything.
via
10pm Elementary. I was very hesitant about this show last year when it aired but I love crime dramas and Sherlock Holmes and this is a nice twist without being kitschy. I love trying to see all the weird ways Holmes thinks and solves crimes.
via
Friday
9pm. Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team 8. I started to watch this show with my mom when it started back 8 years ago. I was raised in Texas so I have always had an appreciation for the DCC and it is fascinating to watch the whole process and then after years you become attached to the veterans and don't want them to leave.
via
9pm. Say Yes to the Dress. self-explanatory.
via
10pm Dracula. I am so excited for this show to start. I am a huge Jonathan Rhys Meyers fan and loved him in the Tudors so I can't wait to see him take on this role.
via
Saturday
*too busy for TV I tend to save it for College Football or I am out to dinner with friends and do not miss anything.

What do you watch? Any shows I need to add?

Weekend Shenanigans (a day late)

Hey y'all,

So the computer is completely out of commission. Thursday night I tried to set it back to factory settings but it would not allow it to go to start Windows normally without making the blue screen of death appear, and Safe Mode will not re-set it up. It is really sad but after 5+ years and a few drops in my various dorm rooms, that computer has lasted through a lot. Now is the great computer search. So if I have spotty blog posts, you guys know why.

Now this weekend was filled with exciting things. First, Friday for lunch I tried out Tru deli. For those of you who have not been in the Chapel Hill area for a while, it is where P.T's Grille used to reside. It was really good and I loved the atmosphere, I would recommend you check it out. Friday night meant a relaxing night in. After a few trips to Target to check out some things (and scoring some sports bras for under $5 a piece) it was time to head home. I had been so busy lately and I definitely needed the rest so after I went to go check on the Chihuahua I was dog sitting I settled in for a night of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team, I Found the Gown,  and SYTTD. It was pure bliss.

Saturday morning came and I got up to do a few chores (dishes) and then began getting ready for the UNC/ECU game. LC arrived and since she was looking adorable I dressed up. After some awful game day traffic we were able to head to the game and meet up with her parent's in their season ticket seats. While the game was not what I had hoped, there was ample amounts of people watching and I am sorry but there are some shades of blue that are not under the Carolina Blue umbrella #sorrynotsorry. After the game, I enjoyed a night in again with the book I am reading, On Folly Beach, and catching up on the Big Bang Theory, HIMYM & Elementary.

Sunday. Sunday was a hard day, to say the least. I have been babysitting two super sweet boys for months now and it was my last week with the family last Sunday and this Sunday I began working with another family in the same church. It was super difficult since my original two guys were both in the nursery with me as usual but they have now moved to MONTANA. Yep. They are gone. It was really tough hugging the little guys and saying goodbye. After that tough morning I ran off to the Verizon store to get my iPhone. Y'all, I had been living with an LG Chocolate for almost 4 years (yes I upgraded and then less than 6 months later my phone was lost in the library during my Senior year of undergrad). Since I was being kicked off my parent's plan I splurged for the iPhone 4s.
After two hours in that store, yes two. Waiting on the list then having to be put back on after my parent's okayed my exit from their plan, I was seen by a manager with great customer service. Then it was checking on the puppy and an Officer Meeting with PBX. After a great conversation with the best guy friend it was time to go to bed.

Now for your delight....

And, the kittens are here! My parent's kittens are visiting for the week and I am so excited, if you have begun to follow me on Instagram, I am sorry but it will be cat photos for the next week....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KID!

Hey y'all,

Today is my baby sister's birthday! I cannot believe that she is a whole 21 years old.
Seriously, how did she go from fitting in my arms circa 1992 to being an adult?

While we were not the best of friends when we were little I can't even begin to explain the blessing she has been in my life. I truly would not be the same without her and I am so blessed to have her in my life and just a short drive away so we can continue our relationship.
From marching band, to a capella concerts, to a House Divided, I am so lucky to have an amazing little sister who loves the Lord, everyone she meets, and the giant cats she will eventually work with (she is a zoology major that loves Big Cats).

Here's to the happiest of birthdays, and excitement of celebrating tomorrow night!

LOVE YOU kDi!
