Sorority Chat Friday: Formal

PBX Formal 2012
Hey y'all,

Tonight is Phi Beta Chi Kappa Chapter's Formal so it got me thinking about a sorority chat centered around what to wear to a formal. Now similar to prom, most formals take place at a nice country club, hotel, etc. but it always depends on your chapter. The question of short versus long dresses is also a chapter decision. At my school both short and long are worn and I wore both. Let's take a trip down memory lane:

The first year I attended Formal I actually wore an old prom gown but in Junior and Senior year I wore J.Crew cocktail dresses I found at Warehouse Sales since I knew that there would not be a lot of events in my future "real world" life that warranted formal attire. I know that often times when attending a Fraternity formal sisters chose short dresses since they were easier to pack for the weekend away. I think it always depends on tradition of the specific chapter/event. However, if I was attending a formal this year, these dresses would be on my wishlist:

RTR

Nordstrom

JCrew

Now go find some gorgeous dancing shoes, a nice gentleman as your date and enjoy a night of dancing (taking a million photos) and enjoying the end of the semester.

  3. Seeing everyone's formal photos this year made me miss it so much! I loved dressing up for formal. I wore a full-length gown to my freshman year formal and then a cocktail dress for my other formals. My favourite place to find a dress was always BCBG.
PS: I totally want in on this post-grad blogger formal!
